  • Overview

    PURPOSE

    Oversee maintenance, health, and safety compliance activities for a waste tire processing facility in Colorado Springs, CO. Manage a fleet of 30+ van trailers, 8-10 tractors, 2-4 walking floor trailers, wheel loader and other mobile equipment. 75% of the time on average is spent working in the field as a maintenance technician/material handler or CDL.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Safety First:

    • Develop and maintain a culture of safe behaviors and mindset,
    • Support facility manager in developing an annual safety improvement plan
    • Ensure all applicable employees complete guided safety and health training
    • Ensure that systems and resources are in place to identify and control hazards.
    • Conduct and document monthly safety meetings and weekly safety tool box talks.
    • Complete DOT compliance inspections and take corrective actions
    • Act as Emergency Coordinator in the event that the Facility Manager is absent.
    • Re-write/review JSA’s on all maintenance procedures

    Maintain mobile equipment and/or coordinate maintenance of leased equipment 

    • Manage maintenance and repair of truck and trailer fleet including documentation of miles, repair orders, DVIR’s, and entering maintenance and repair data electronically.
    • Coordinate with Penske on maintenance and repair issues on lease trucks.
    • Coordinate with shop mechanic and multiple 3rd parties on repairs and maintenance issues of company owned trucks, trailers, and mobile equipment.
    • Track and enter mileage, hours, and repairs of trucks, trailers, and equipment in JJ Keller Encompass Run weekly report to ensure equipment/trucks are maintained and have required inspections.
    • Ensure truck and trailers maintenance records are in compliance with DOT regulations

    Support and direct the maintenance of tire shredder equipment minimizing life cycle costs

    • Review KPIS with operations supervisor
    • Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance with operations supervisor
    • Manage/schedule staff for wear part change overs and complete maintenance as directed for maintenance and repairs for shred equipment in coordination with maintenance supervisor
    • Design, engineer, and fabricate safety and production improvements
    • Manage facility maintenance and repairs such as CM blade changes, classifier rebuilds, Artech blade changes, belt repairs etc.
    • Inventory and maintain adequate supply of spare parts for shredders and shredding equipment.

    Customer service

    • Coordinate with collection and operations supervisor to maximize availability of company trailers and equipment
    • Address non-routine situations in the operation of the facility.
    • Interface with LafargeHolcim personnel, operating staff, visitors to the site, customers, and transporters.
    • Act as backup to maintenance supervisor and/or collections supervisor

    Develop People

    • Coordinate personnel training of mechanics and task training of mobile equipment
    • Evaluate site personnel performance.
    • Schedule, supervise, train and develop staff of 2-3 hourly employees
    • Implement cross training and cross functionality of staff

    Technical skills

    • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
    • DOT compliance experience preferred
    • Truck maintenance preferred
    • Fabrication and welding experience preferred
    • Budgeting and estimation

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Required Education:  Associates Degree or 3 years of equivalent experience.

    Additional Education Preferred:  Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree

    Field of Study Preferred:  Sciences, Business or Related Field

    Required Work Experience: 3-5 years operational experience in a technical work environment related to waste management and 3+ years of experience in a Supervisory/managerial.

    Required Computer and Software Skills:  Comprehensive computer software knowledge required, including Excel, Word, Project, SAP, etc. is preferred.

    Travel Requirements:  Less than 20%
