  • Overview

    PURPOSE

    The Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and executing the technical aspects and scope of CAPEX projects during all phases of a project, starting with the Feasibility Study and concluding with the complete handover to Manufacturing.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
    • Provides effective and efficient project management expertise in delivering on time, within budget, and with high-quality projects in Cement, Geocycle (AFR), and Logistics.
    • Delivers projects that are aligned with LH Group expectations in terms of quality of engineering and equipment, site safety, efficiency in construction, quality of the installation, and fast plant ramp-up to production
    • Ensures the project is resourced and is formally and efficiently planned and put in place
    • Reviews and advises on the implementation of company-wide policies, guidelines and standards, especially for safety, permitting, project controls, procurement, engineering, construction, and start up and commissioning
    • Organizes and conducts formal project risk analysis, and reports results to the Project Owner and Project Steering Committee
    • Reviews all aspects of the project related to safety, security, costs, schedule, quality and performance, risks and their mitigation with the Steering Committee
    • Reports monthly on the status of all projects and enters forecasts and approvals into the correct business and CAPEX management systems.
    • Supports Manufacturing for a smooth transition to operation after the handover of the project

    RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

    Proactively consults and collaborates with a wide range of LH internal functional partners (e.g., Safety, CIP, Manufacturing, Geocycle, Logistics, and Finance).  Interacts with Project Owner, Project Steering Committee, PM&E team, OPs team, external Contractors, and other external stakeholders.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Required Education:  Bachelor’s/University Degree

    Additional Education Preferred:  N/A

    Field of Study Preferred:  Mechanical, civil, electrical or process Engineering

    Required Work Experience:  Proven project management experience, preferably in cement and/or similar type of heavy industry, with a minimum of 3 years in industrial construction related fields.  Solid achievement in industrial facility project management and capital investment projects.

    Required Language:  English

     

    Travel Requirements:  Able to travel extensively to work locations related to the project work.  

     

    Additional Requirements:

    • Familiar with industry processes, engineering standards and equipment used in the cement or similar industries
    • Knowledge of industrial machinery for heavy industry applications
    • Experience in industrial construction project management, estimation, project controlling and contract claims management and arbitration
    • Knowledge and experience in construction and labor management
    • Knowledge in construction specifically for emerging and developing countries
    • Knowledge of design and engineering scope, cost and schedule control tools
