  • Overview

    PURPOSE
    Facilitates the order process through order taking, entry, load scheduling, tendering, acceptance notification, and delivery confirmation.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
    • Direct contact with the customer, market managers and carriers to ensure timely delivery to customers
    • Proactive carrier capacity management
    • Responsible for finding carrier capacity in the local market by actively contacting and visiting with new and existing carriers
    • Responsible for the management of exceptions by contacting the carrier, customer and/or market manager toensure no disruption in service
    • Coordinates the expediting of cement in the event of a failure either by the existing carrier or a new carrier
    • Document carrier noncompliance and service failures
    • Ensures communication of key business information to team and to Logistics Supervisor on a regular basis
    • Provide feedback to Logistics Supervisor on continuous process improvement ideas and potential savings opportunities
    • Perform spot pricing requests for quote to assist market managers with paving project bids
    • Solicit bids from multiple carriers to ensure competitiveness
    • Coordinate the award of those bids and ensuring carrier has capacity at the price quoted once job starts
    • Ability to perform cost analysis to ensure optimal source is utilized

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
    Required Education: High School diploma/GED
    Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree
    Field of Study Preferred: Logistics/Supply Chain/Customer Service
    Required Work Experience: 1-3 years of logistics / customer service experience
    Travel Requirements: <5%
    Required Computer and Software Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. ERP (SAP in particular) experience preferred. Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems is a PLUS. Cement industry experience preferred.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Previous customer service experience preferred.
    • Strong working knowledge of all programs within Microsoft Office (preferred).
    • ERP/SAP experience (preferred).
    • Transportation management system experience (preferred).
    • Cement industry experience (preferred).
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strategic working relationships within and outside of the logistics team.
    • Highly organized with a focus on meeting deadlines.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
    • Strong customer service orientation.
    • Ability manages multiple priorities
