  • Overview

    PURPOSE
    The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible of all mechanical maintenance activities at the plant. A team of technicians report to the Maintenance Supervisor. They are also responsible for ensuring maintenance activities are completed in a safe, efficient and timely manner and in compliance with environmental requirements.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
    • Ensure that employees observe safe work practices and perform work assignments within MSHA and LafargeHolcim safety guidelines.
    • Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained.
    • Organize, schedule, and oversee daily preventive/repair maintenance activities.
    • Supervise, train, and develop mechanical maintenance staff to achieve the department goals in a manner to create employee ownership; create bench strength and succession plans.
    • Analyze and resolve problems affecting overall equipment efficiency.
    • Be agile in resolving urgent short term plant repair needs while maintaining focus on long term sustainable improvements.
    • With help of planners, create weekly, long term, major shutdown/outage maintenance plans for area of responsibility.
    • Recommend, initiate and approve requisitions, PM orders and other associated SAP transactions to obtain required contractor services, equipment, and supplies.
    • Assist in preparing recommendations for long term vision in his area of responsibility and capital expenditures.
    • Systematic follow up with planners and procurement to ensure that all supplies, parts, and materials are available when required.
    • Assist in preparing annual maintenance budget and staying within that budget.
    • Coordinate maintenance work with other maintenance teams and departments to enhance overall equipment efficiency and maximum production.
    • Focus on improvements in overall housekeeping in area of responsibility.
    • Complete records, forms, and other paperwork associated with maintenance activities: including SAP time entry, notifications, orders, etc.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

    • Assist other departments with mechanical problems 
    • Work with mechanical maintenance superintendent to execute preventive and predictive maintenance program
    • Work with reliability engineer/technicians in improving the plant reliability.
    • Be leader in housekeeping in area of responsibility with focus on permanent fix of housekeeping issues.
    • Be available for shift work as per plant need.
    • Assist maintenance manager in the development of the maintenance budget and the tracking of expenses
    • Provide assistance in the mechanical design and execution of plant capital projects.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
    Required Education:  Associates/Technical Degree
    Additional Education Preferred:  Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree
    Field of Study Preferred:  Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical
    Required Work Experience:  5 years heavy manufacturing industry mechanical repairs supervision or maintenance reliability supervision experience.
    Required Computer and Software Skills:  Comprehensive computer software knowledge required, including Excel, Word, Project, SAP, ability to read Auto CAD, etc. is preferred.
    Travel Requirements:  As needed by company
