  • Overview

    PURPOSE

    Effectively and efficiently manage all aspects relative scheduling and expediting transportation activities for Geocycle. Coordinate with Logistics and outside transportation coordinators as necessary to service both internal and external customers.  

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
    • Coordinates with LafargeHolcim logistics group for rate quotes and shipment schedules across all modes of transportation
    • Work on logistics projects with plant teams and supply chain organization in order to secure supply of alternative materials
    • Prepares data and supports the preparation of quotation documents for negotiations with service providers for packaging; collects and tracks contract conditions (e.g. purchasing time, maintenance lead times, prices, service)
    • Acts as the key Customer contact for shipment issues.
    • Plans shipping schedules from manufacturing site; tracks and expedites shipments.
    • Manages purchase order requirements and ensures on-time product deliveries to meet customer requirements.
    • Identifies potential inventory problems and takes corrective action which includes processing cancellations and order changes, expedition of special request orders.
    • Manage domestic and international inbound transportation operations / logistics concepts, and savings initiatives
    • Monitor daily transportation activities (Barge, Rail, Truck)
    • Identify and coordinate the implementation of efficiency-increasing supply chain initiatives
    • Support transportation network optimization ideas
    • Develop and compile weekly carrier KPI’s 
    • Assist in the financial reconciliation of transportation invoices
    • Participate in transportation service provider contract negotiations as required
    • Manage Purchase Order process by working with the Procurement team to ensure the necessary POs are created and maintained and ensure invoices are tracked and paid timely
    • Serve as gate keeper for rates, enter all rates in SAP, update as needed and manage exceptions
    • Build and maintain rate guides for sales and order desk to guide negotiations and billing for customers
    • Tracking, analyzing and reporting transportation data
    • Implement process improvement to streamline transportation operations
    • Other duties as assigned

    RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

    • Interfaces and communicates effectively with plants to facilitate the execution of the production and delivery plan(s).
    • Serves as a liaison between internal and external customers for inventory issues.
    • Acting liaison between the transportation, supplier management and internal teams
    • The role will interact on monthly basis with Sales on trucking payment and billing.
    • Interact with all levels of personnel on the Logistics organization ensure carriers are setup and paid.
    • Continuous interaction with NABS to ensure carrier are paid and setup correctly

     

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
    Required Education: High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
    Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree
    Field of Study Preferred: Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Transportation or related degree preferred
    Required Work Experience: 1-3 years of relevant logistics experience, trucking industry experience is preferred with a working knowledge of rail and barge.
    Required Computer and Software Skills: Skilled in computer software and systems, advanced Excel skills, SAP software experience preferred.
    Travel Requirements: < 5% travel in North America

    • Problem-solving skills: Demonstrated ability to define operation problems, identify needs, resolve problems, analyze and interpret results in order to oversee all production activities.
    • Physical Ability: Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and bending in order to reach equipment.
    • Annual Physical: Individuals in this position must pass the prescribed annual health physical provided by the company.
