  • Overview

    PURPOSE

    The Production Supervisor oversees and coordinates the operation of one or more plants, ensuring uninterrupted supply of Aggregate product.   Directs the day-to-day activities of a plant location to ensure objectives are met: manages, through subordinate personnel, the various operations associated with mining, processing, stockpiling, loading and shipping of sand and gravel for a plant location. Plans, staffs and supervises the work unit to ensure a cohesive operational unit; responsible for health, safety, and environmental compliance of the site.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
    • Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
    • Supervises, coordinates, and monitors plant activities; oversees the maintenance of equipment and performs related duties to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant.
    • Supports and assists personnel in achieving timely and efficient production schedules; provides opportunities for training on routine preventive maintenance activities.
    • Investigates abnormal operating events or equipment failures to determine cause; makes adjustments, repairs, and/or modifications as needed.
    • Performs inspections on completed jobs; ensures conformance with policies and procedures, safety codes and local, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and ordinances.
    • Analyzes operational data and reconfigures operating area(s) as necessary to provide adequate, economical service.
    • Plans, schedules, and monitors all work being performed.  
    • Oversees the overall safety of any personnel working at or visiting site.
    • Ensures proper documentation of operations activities in logs and/or incident reports.

     

    RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

    Supervise unionized workers as they perform their work, assist Operations Manager with SAP and related accounting duties.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

     

    Preferred Education:  Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree or combination of education and experience

    Field of Study Preferred:  MSHA, Safety, Aggregate Production

    Required Training/Certifications:  MSHA

    Required Work Experience:   5 Years

    Travel Requirements:  Minimal

    Licenses Preferred:  MSHA Certified Trainer

    Required Computer and Software Skills: Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office, Excel
