  • Overview

    PURPOSE

    The purpose of the Vibration Technician is to discover, through investigation, the root cause and contributing causes of repetitive mechanical failures.  The employee will work with the Predictive Maintenance Group as a member to solve, and in some instances, correct repetitive failures after their root causes have been determined.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
    • Vibration analysis including, but not limited to: Establishing/installing computerized routes for data collection and analytical parameters for equipment.
    • Collect data from equipment using data collector.
    • Analyze data using a computer
    • Initiate recommendations resulting from the analysis of collected data
    • Follow-up on the results of recommendations as a quality control measure.
    • Review parameters and adjust as required for continuous improvement.
    • Develop training programs/materials and train/instruct.
    • Perform laser measurement and utilize the kiln measurement tools to collect data on (5) kilns.
    • Lead teams of vendors, contractors or other LafargeHolcim departments
    • Use root cause failure analysis to identify the root cause of mechanical failures
    • Perform advanced inspections utilizing ultrasound, dye penetrant, mag practical and other technologies as required.
    • Other duties as assigned by Reliability Supervisor 

    RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

    • Assist co-workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment
    • Assist team(s) with maintaining, operating and troubleshooting systems and equipment
    • Actively participate in department meetings and facility teams relating to the improvement of the Reliability Team, plant safety, quality, innovation and efficiency

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Required Education:  High School diploma/GED or 2 years of equivalent experience.

    Additional Education Preferred: Associates/Technical Degree

    Field of Study Preferred:  Millwright Journeyman or equivalent, Level II Vibration Institute Certification

    Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Office Suite  

    Travel Requirements:  As necessary for training

     

    Additional Skills Preferred:

    • Experience in vibration analysis with formal training
    • Ability to interpret vibration data
    • Good leadership skills
    • Interpersonal communication
    • Math skills
    • Ability to read blueprints

     

    Additional Requirements: Prior mechanical experience, intricate Hand-Eye coordination and ability to walk over uneven surfaces, ability to climb, sit, stoop and work in tight spaces as required with exposure to extreme heat and cold.
