    PURPOSE

    Proactively sells to specific customer segments, administers key sales systems and processes, and provides sales support to the Field Sales Team.  This position will also be responsible for performing specific gatekeeper responsibilities for all three product lines.

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Places outbound prospecting calls for sales growth
    • Places outbound courtesy calls for maintaining current long-term customer relationships.
    • Places outbound quote follow-up calls in an attempt to close a sale.
    • Qualifies customers and provides price quotes for material needs within Company goals and objectives.
    • Qualifies customers and establishes account pricing for orders.
    • Accountable for resolving customer credit issues
    • Provides technical product knowledge for design professionals, and customers
    • Interfaces with Field Sales, Production Team and Local Distribution Channels
    • Manages all insides sales customer service issues when appropriate.
    • Handles and resolves simple customer complaints and forwards more complex isues to more senior staff for resolution.
    • Maintains customer communications (annual price letters, new customer welcome, holiday greetings, hours of operation, etc).
    • Responds to general inquiries (i.e. products, sources, pricing, end-use/application assistance).
    • Procurement of tax exempt certificates, when applicable.
    • Gathers intelligence on all market products, and creates a realistic succession pipeline of customers that can be sold, if other volumes are lost.
    • Develops, maintains and strengthens customer relationships.
    • Prepares data needed in sales budgets, sales reports and market analysis
    • On a daily basis, reviews edits for missing contracts, products not on order, freight FP/FOB, correct orders, incorrect products
    • On a daily basis, runs volume report for Accountants and Regional Controller and Controller.
    • On a daily basis, runs downloads for third party contractor’s for previous days’ sales. – edit posted
    • On a daily basis, sends freight pricing to third party vendor for tickets
    • On a daily basis, clears workflow in SAP, in conjunction with the Billing department.
    • Sets up PF freight pay in SAP
    • Researches hauler inquiries
    • Creates hauler adjustments, when needed
    • Tracks voids
    • Sends forms to customer master/item master to change or create price list, extend materials to new plant and set up or change STOP.
    • Creates credit/debit memos for adjustments.
    • Pulls tickets for customer inquiries.
    • On a monthly basis, enters ZAFA change for rail (CSX)
    • At year end, submit list price changes to customer master
    • At year end, updates the ZAFA (freight pay) dates in SAP
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

    • Works closely with Territory Sales Representatives, after Sales Support and Credit and Collections Personnel.

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Required Education:  Bachelor's/University Degree

    Required Work Experience:

    A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience, or operations experience in the building materials industry

    Travel Requirements:  May involve some local travel.

    Computer and Software Skills:   

    Proficiency in ERP systems (i.e. SAP), Google mail, and the Microsoft Suite to include PowerPoint, Excel and Word, and an aptitude for specialized computer software and applications.

    • Solid understanding of how to deliver value to customers, and ability to use value selling strategies.
    • Ability to identify and understand the competitive landscape
    • Ability to use good account management practices to develop plans to maximize potential of accounts
    • Ability to develop an effective call planning system
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Superior customer service skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Experience with SAP preferred, but not required.
