  • Overview

    PURPOSE

    The role of the Shipping and Utility Services Supervisor is to coordinate the shipping of all produced products, including semi-finished or waste products.  This includes ownership of the operation and maintenance of the plant area in good functioning condition, and to coordinate, repair and manage utility services at the plant. 

    Responsibilities

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
    • To serve as a role model in the areas of safety, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors.
    • To meet the needs of customers in an efficient and courteous manner.
    • To ensure effective utilization of equipment and people, including maintenance, troubleshooting and building housekeeping.
    • Maintain shipping and service areas as required. Ensure regular inspection, and evaluation of area equipment to minimize costs and service disruptions. 
    • Supervise 3rd party services including mechanical, electrical, rail and utility contractors.
    • To ensure employees have the knowledge, information and tools to perform their job safely.
    • To ensure that all equipment operates within environmental compliance.
    • To provide leadership to department employees by directing, coaching, supporting and delegating as the situation requires.
    • Work closely with plant operations personnel to ensure that grinding schedules will meet shipping requirements.
    • Coordinate and oversee all cement shipping (truck, rail) in a safe and efficient manner.

    RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

    • Reports to Production Manager
    • Works closely with sales, order desk, maintenance and shipping department
    • Interacts with Production Analyst, Production Supervisors

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Required Education:  High School Diploma

    Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor’s/Undergraduate Degree preferred

    Required Work Experience:  More than 1 year of experience in logistics preferred, 3-5 years of manufacturing plant experience.  Understanding of maintenance, equipment operation, warehousing & distribution-related activities, including knowledge of rail & motor carrier transportation & knowledge of plant production activities.

    Required Computer and Software Skills: SAP experience, Computer skills, including Excel, Word, etc.

    Travel Requirements:  5%
